Q. The family
that plays together wins together ... How many people
came in to try to win the wild-card spots in the ginale?
A. We had over 500 who came in hoping to be one of the eleven
drawn. Stanford Wong was one of the winners.
Q. The man who wrote the book. Did that upset the amateur gamblers?
A. Actually, he has a lot of fans.
Q. He should. He's arguably the most savvy tourney expert on earth.
Does Caesars Palace
have any plans for a big tournament?
A. I'm not involved with tournaments over here, other than from an
operational point of view.
Q. Does Caesars Entertainment Corporate have any plans for a
tournament?
A. Not that I'm aware of.
Q. How big do you see blackjack tournaments getting in the future?
A. I see tremendous growth potential. If you compare blackjack to
poker, look at the resurgence that poker has had with a small group
of
people who actually know how to play poker compared to the mass of people
who know how to play blackjack.
Q. Do you foresee multiple-property televised events?
A. I think it would be a great opportunity for someone to further
develop that concept.
Q. I've heard that Colony Capital is going to continue to run the
million-dollar event. Any insight on this one?
A. I don't know. But I hope so. It was with mixed emotions that I
left the Las Vegas Hilton and the tournament. But it was such a great
opportunity to come to Caesars Palace that I just couldn't pass it up.
Q. Do you miss it?
A. Absolutely. I miss the excitement, the people, the drama.
Q. What were your biggest mistakes?
A. The format, right from day one, was perfect. Probably my
underestimation of how quickly it would take off.
